24 hours after the WPL heartbreak, all that remains is our pride in this team

By Mumbai Indians

It’ll take us a while to get over the fact that Mumbai Indians’ campaign in this year’s Women’s Premier League is over. It was by every stretch a very strong campaign, and right until the last ball of the Eliminator, we had the will, the team, and the brand of cricket to make us believe we had a second successive title in our grasp.

While 24 hours might not be enough for us to heal this heartbreak, it surely is enough for us to realise our pride in this batch of 2024.

From Sajana smashing a last-ball six, or a first ball six, depending on how you look at it, to Shabnim Ismail clocking the fastest ball ever recorded in women’s cricket history, to Harmanpreet Kaur smashing the innings of the tournament – 95* - in the game where the sprinklers came on to douse her fiery knock, to Amelia Kerr’s all-round brilliance game after game, it’s a campaign we’ll remember for years to come, with fondness, despite the Eliminator.

Paltan, you’ve been the best 12th member we could have asked for in our side. We’ll need you again in a week’s time. There’s enough unfinished business!

This is MI team. This is MI city. We are MI.
